Classic Grain Mill FAQsUpdated a month ago

If you have questions about using your NutriMill Classic Grain Mill, this FAQ guide provides answers to common issues, troubleshooting steps, and best practices to ensure optimal performance.

1. How Do I Set Up My Classic Grain Mill for First Use?

Before milling, follow these steps:

  • Remove the hopper extension ring from the flour bowl.
  • Mill at least two cups of wheat or rice, then discard the flour.
  • Clean the flour bowl and separator cup to remove any residue.

2. Why Won’t My Mill Turn On?

If the mill does not start:

  • Ensure it is plugged in securely and the outlet is functional.
  • Check the Grain Feed Rate Knob (lower knob). If it is turned all the way left (off position), turn it slightly to the right.
  • Press the Circuit Reset Button located at the bottom of the milling module unit.
  • If grain is jammed in the milling chamber, try turning the Grain Feed Rate Knob to the right to release it.

3. Why is My Flour Coming Out Too Coarse?

If flour is coarser than expected:

  • Adjust the Motor Speed Control Knob (upper knob):
    • Turn left for finer flour.
    • Turn right for coarser flour.
  • Adjust the Grain Feed Rate Knob (lower knob):
    • Set between 11:00 – 12:00 for finer flour.
    • Set between 12:00 – 1:00 for bread flour.

4. Why is My Mill Making Unusual Noises?

If you hear unusual grinding sounds:

  • Stop the mill immediately and check for foreign objects (e.g., small rocks or debris in the grain).
  • Ensure the separator cup and flour bowl lid are properly attached.
  • If the stones are rubbing, adjust the Motor Speed Control Knob slightly to the right.

5. How Do I Clean the Classic Grain Mill?

  • After each use – Tap out excess flour from the air filter and separator cup.
  • Deep cleaning – Mill three cups of white rice on a coarse setting to remove residue.
  • Never use water or liquid cleaners – Moisture can damage internal components.

6. Can I Re-Mill Flour to Make it Finer?

No. Do not re-mill already-milled flour, as it can damage the milling heads and strain the motor. If a finer texture is needed, adjust the Motor Speed Control Knob to a finer setting before milling.

7. What is the Warranty for the NutriMill Classic Grain Mill?

The NutriMill Classic Grain Mill includes:

  • 5-year warranty on parts and plastics
  • Limited lifetime warranty on the motor and milling heads

To submit a warranty claim, fill out the Warranty Claim Form.

8. Why is Flour Leaking from the Bowl?

If flour is escaping from the mill:

  • Ensure the separator cup is securely attached.
  • Make sure the flour bowl lid is tightly sealed.
  • Clean or replace the air filter if it is clogged.
